RUF Small Groups
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
RUF small groups are a great way to meet other students and learn more about God and His Word. We offer several different types of small groups each semester. Some studies focus on discussing passages of Scripture together; others are groups that read and discuss books. We even have small discipleship groups that center around accountability and discussion. Below are a list of the types of studies we offer. Please try one of our studies out - you'll be glad you did!
If you are interested in being in a small group, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Once you fill this out, we will contact you and let you know what will be offered this upcoming semester. For Fall 2010 small groups click here.
Aletheia (Freshmen only!)
Alethea is the ancient Greek word for "truth." In this study, we are going to look at selections from Romans in attempts to answer the question that Pontius Pilate posed to Jesus of Nazereth so long ago, "What is truth?" (John 18:38). As you enter into the marketplace of ideas, i.e. the university setting, you will be asking profound metaphysical questions in your search for truth. It is our intention to come alongside you and to assist you in your journey. We, also, plan to have fun and formulate meaningful relationships along the way.
Fellowship Groups
Commuter schools are notorious for being difficult places to build significant friendships. Real community is hard to find, but it is there if you look. RUF is committed to helping students build encouraging Christ-centered relationships. One new way we would like to try is to minimize the loneliness on campus by establishing Fellowship Groups throughout the week. These are designed for students to enjoy the company of others, especially during those long breaks. Hey! We all have to eat right? Why not get to know a few people in the process.Book & Topical Studies
There are a variety of studies led on topics and literature as well. Whether discussing the works of C. S. Lewis, studying tough theological ideas, diving into men's and women's issues, or discussing how to grow as a Christian, these groups provide students with an opportunity to know God and love one another more intimately. If you would like to get involved with Book study or have a suggestion, let us know and we will see what we can do.
S-Groups
S-Groups stand for "Sanctification"-Groups. Sanctification is the process whereby God makes us holy. These groups are composed of 3-4 students who simply seek to regularly ask one another about their growth in grace. Under the guidance of an older student or church member, the intent of these groups is for students to encourage one another in their faith and sharpen one another as “iron sharpens iron.” (Prov 27:17). Get involved with a "Band of Brothers" or Sisters.
